When: Jul 16, 2020 06:00 PM Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Topic: Art on Art with Naomi Teppich

Naomi Teppich looks at plants, shells, sea creatures, fungi, bark, and cacti which inspire her art. She builds small to medium-sized ceramic mixed-media sculptures, and also large public ferro-cement sculptures. Her materials are combinations of soft and hard organic substances and she considers herself an environmental artist. This window exhibition “Bark Park” include her new bark wall pieces and fungi sculptures. Teppich often hikes in the Catskills and picks up bark fragments to look at.

She was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and received her BA from Brooklyn College where she was a fine arts major. Her welding skills were developed at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, and she later carved stone. She studied ceramics at Parsons School of Design in 1995 and taught ceramics and sculpture in New York City for many years. She currently lives and works in Damascus, Pennsylvania where she has a sculpture and ceramics studio. Her work has been included in numerous solo and group exhibitions as well as outdoor sculpture venues. Teppich won two Puffin Foundation grants in 2009 and 2015. Her indoor sculptures are also being displayed this July in a virtual exhibition at Hammond Museum, North Salem, NY.
