The cyber DISTANCING team, in collaboration with HPAC, and The Allways Lounge present cyber DISTANCING Digest, a new weekly LIVE STREAM event to be broadcast via the video conferencing tool, Zoom. cyber DISTANCING Digest: Live from The Allways Lounge NOLA is hosted by it’s co-creators, New Orleans Drag performers, Laveau Contraire and Tarah Cards. This digital performance experience will showcase previously recorded acts from the stages of The Allways Lounge, candid quarantine moments with the proprietor, beloved staff, and hosts, as well as special guests. cyber DISTANCING Digest offers a distinctive way for drag, burlesque, and cabaret artists to work within the new paradigms of our current social landscape, while still creating content accessible to local and global audiences alike.
“For drag performers across the world, the looming pandemic has caused a total upheaval of their livelihoods. By its nature, drag is a live industry where a performer’s success and financial stability is measured by their weekly shows, potential tours, and tips. But with bars and venues shut down in major cities, the performers who depended upon live audiences are finding creative ways to support themselves and their communities.“ – excerpt from Rolling Stone article, “As Gay Bars Close, Drag Shows Go Online” , by Brittany Spanos.
cyber DISTANCING Digest: Live from The Allways Lounge NOLA will premier Saturday, April 11th at 9:00 p.m EST, and will continue every Saturday 9:00 p.m. in May via ZOOM.
cDD will air a special “Pre-Party” Saturday, April 18th at 7:00pm EST, in support of the Global Citizen online event One World Together At Home.
The show is free to viewers with a suggested donation of $10. For more information on cyber DISTANCING Digest, visit Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter.
