Dana Katz Guided Movement Meditation

This workshop is rescheduled for our August 26 dance festival that includes, dance film shorts and live performances by Dana Katz and world renowned professional dancers.

Join this one-hour movement session for non-dancers and movers of all kinds led by Dana Katz, Artistic Director of NYC based, DANAKA Dance.

Participants will be guided to let go, using the body to translate their thought and ideas into individual interpretive movement.

Comfortable clothing is highly recommended.

ABOUT DANA KATZ 


Dana Katz, a supported artist by The Kevin Spacey Foundation and an award-winning dance filmmaker is the choreographer and artistic director of the New York City based DANAKA Dance. Her developed choreographic practice, involving the relation of the body to space is defined by physicality that draws its strength from the individual performer’s personal legacy aspect. Katz holds her BA from The Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne Australia, and her MFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She was an artist in residence at The Yard in Martha’s Vineyard, Springboard Danse Montreal and Chez Bushwick in Brooklyn and is currently a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC’s) Workspace artist in residence 2016-17.


ABOUT DANAKA DANCE

DANAKA’s work has been commissioned, presented and toured internationally in Tel-Aviv, New York, Canada, Brazil, Spain, Tokyo, Budapest among others. The ensemble has received grants from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, Israeli Lottery Council for the Arts, Israeli Cultural Institute (IKI) in Budapest, and the Israeli consulates in Spain, Canada, Hungary and New York. DANAKA sustains a fruitful global collaborative practice, and this will be Katz’s fifth year as the curator of the Out of Israel Festival.
